Which endoscopy procedure are you having?

Gastroscopy: The examination of the oesophagus, stomach and first part of the duodenum using a flexible endoscope.

Colonoscopy: The examination of the colon and terminal part of the small intestine using a flexible endoscope.

Upper GI Endoscopy

This procedure is to inspect the anatomy of the oesophagus, stomach and intestine prior to performing bariatric surgery, to ensure that the recommended procedure is indeed suitable (CLICK HERE)
This procedure is to investigate symptoms you be experiencing such as pain, nausea, vomiting, reflux or anaemia. (CLICK HERE)
Current international recommendations are for patients who have had a sleeve gastrectomy or one-anastomosis gastric bypass, to have a gastroscopy to inspect the oesophagus and stomach to ensure that no damage is occuring from acid or bile exposure. (CLICK HERE)

Colonoscopy

This procedure is to inspect the large intestine for causes of inflammation, bleeding, or growths such as polyps or cancer. It is usually performed under a twilight sedation.
